The Jungle Book [Together with:] The Second Jungle book by Rudyard Kipling With Illustrations by J. L. Kipling, W. H. Drake, and P. Frenzeny London: Macmillan and Co. 1894 - 1895 The Jungle Book is the First Edition, Third Impression. The Second Jungle Book is the First Edition, First Impression. Two octavos, vii, 212pp.; i, 238, [2] pages, bound in uniform gilt-lettered and decorated blue cloth covered boards. All edges gilt. Illustrated in black and white. Owned by Percy Raymond Leigh-Bennett, an early 20th-century British occult writer who engaged intellectually with the Crowleyan milieu, with a contemporary presentation inscription from his godfather (signature apparently reading “P. Crutchley”) and his later ownership signature, “P. R. Leigh-Bennett.” The first book has fraying and cracked hinges, spine sunned, signs of bookplate removal, and splayed boards. The second book has cracked hinges, signs of bookplate removal, some foxing, spine sunned, else in good + condition.
